Liposuction, or “Lipo”, is a surgical procedure that slims and reshapes specific, targeted areas of your body by using a suction technique to remove excess fat deposits, which results in a more contoured and proportioned body. It can be used to target anywhere from the Cheeks to your Ankles and everywhere in between. *You should be aware that liposuction is not intended to be a substitute for a proper diet and exercise and can not treat obesity. It is also not a very effective treatment for cellulite or loose, saggy skin. During this consultation, not only will you be able to meet with him, but you will be able to express your desires for the treatment and ask any questions or address any concerns you may have. Dr. Heidari will examine the area or areas you are looking to have the fat removed and have a real dialogue with you about your options. Once he has all the information he needs, a surgical plan will be created for you. If you agree with Dr. Heidari’s assessment and plan, you will meet with our Patient Coordinator to schedule your treatment date. Once the day is locked in, you will also be provided with some directions to follow that will help you have the most successful surgery possible.

What to Expect on the Day of Liposuction

Aesthetic Contours

Dr. Heidari performs High Definition Liposuction with you under the influence of anesthesia. Depending on what is discussed during your consultation, it may either be local anesthesia, intravenous sedation, or general anesthesia. Once you are under sedation, Dr. Heidari will make deliberate, inconspicuous incisions around the area you are looking to have your procedure performed. After diluted local anesthesia is infused to reduce blood flow, a thin tube called a cannula is inserted into the incisions to help loosen up the excess fat through a controlled back-and-forth motion. The dislodged fat is then suctioned out of your body via a surgical vacuum, or syringe attached to the cannula. After the fat has been completely removed, Dr. Heidari will close the incisions, and wrap the area with a compression garment or elastic bandage to help control swelling and compress your skin to your new body contours. He may also leave a small, temporary drain in the incision to help remove any blood or excess fluid.

Liposuction Recovery

After your surgery, you will be able to return home to recover in peace. After any surgery, it’s always a good idea to have someone available to give you a ride home. Dr. Heidari will prescribe you pain medication to help make you more comfortable and able to relax during the first few days of recovery. You will also be provided with information on how to have a successful recovery, such as how to treat the surgical site and drains, any concerns to be on the lookout for, and when you will need to return for your follow-up.

Liposculpture

Introduction to

Liposculpture, sometimes referred to as fat transfer or lipo-filling, is a procedure that not only focuses on the removal of fat but also on reshaping your body. This technique is done by removing the excess fat and using it by adding it to the best places for a better contour. It is often considered to be a more complicated procedure than Liposuction because the shape and dimensions of your body need to be considered. Thankfully, Dr. Heidari has an artful eye and experience that helps him make the right adjustments to get you looking your best. The procedure will take place after your liposuction and the fat that was removed is then transferred to another part of your body that could use it, such as your breasts or buttocks. Your recovery is very similar to Liposuction in that you will experience some soreness, swelling, and bruising, and you should consider taking off about a week from work. Any physical activity should be kept to a minimum for the first two weeks. You will need to wear a postoperative compression garment for about four to six weeks to minimize the swelling and any pain, as well as prevent the formation of seromas (accumulation of lymph fluid). As with Liposuction, this is not a “weight-loss” procedure, but you will discover that your body has more of a contour with improved proportions. You will also be able to enjoy better-fitting clothing, with the possibility of even dropping a few clothing sizes.
