• Is a Facelift painful?

  A Facelift normally has very little pain during recovery, but you can expect to feel a deep bruise sensation as a result of the swelling, leaving you with a heavy feeling in your face. There is typically some discomfort during the initial stages of recovery, especially while you get used to the bandage wrapped around your face for protection. Dr. Heidari will provide you with some instructions on how to have a better, more comfortable experience during recovery.

• How many appointments will I need?

  The average patient will need to return to meet with Dr. Heidari between three and six appointments. He will want to see you about a week after surgery to make sure you are healing properly and to remove any bandages. He will then ask for you to return about a month later, and then again after about 6 months to see your full results. Dr. Heidari will always let you know when he would like to see you again at the end of your check-up.

  Patients who take good care of their skin and avoid smoking and sun exposure will normally require fewer sessions than those who don’t.

• How long until I see results?

  Most patients begin seeing results after about a month post-surgery, but you will notice the best results around 6 months. 

• Can I combine Facelift with other procedures?

  Many of our patients will get their Facelift and Necklift performed at the same time, but there are many other options for procedure combinations. Some of these more common surgeries are Brow Lifts or Blepharoplasty to achieve facial harmony. If you would like to address additional areas that could use some aesthetic adjustments, please let Dr. Heidari know during your consultation so that he can consider these additional desires when creating your surgical plan.

• What are the risks associated with Facelifts?

  Dr. Heidari and his team take pride in providing healthy and successful surgeries, however, there are potential side effects and risks associated with the Facelift procedure, such as:

  • Anesthesia risks
  • Bleeding
  • Deep vein thrombosis, cardiac and pulmonary complications
  • Facial nerve injury with weakness
  • Fluid accumulation
  • Hematoma (a collection of blood under the skin)
  • Infection
  • Nerve injury (rare)
  • Numbness or other changes in skin sensation
  • Persistent pain
  • Poor wound healing and skin loss
  • Prolonged swelling
  • Scarring
  • Skin loss
  • Skin irregularities or discoloration
  • Spontaneously visible sutures in skin the skin’s surface
  • Temporary or permanent hair loss at the incisions
  • Unsatisfactory results may include asymmetry, unsatisfactory surgical scar location, and unacceptable visible deformities at the ends of the incisions
