What to Expect on the Day of Laser Skin Resurfacing
Aesthetic Contours
At Aesthetic Contours, Dr. Heidari uses an Erbium (YAG) Laser to send short, concentrated beams of light to the damaged or discolored skin you want to enhance. On the day of your procedure, our lasers will remove the outer layer of skin, called the epidermis, and heat the underlying skin to promote new collagen growth. The process is relatively quick and ranges anywhere from a few minutes to two hours, depending on the area being covered. It can be performed under general or local anesthetic.
Dr. Heidari recommends patients undergo skin treatments to prepare the skin before laser resurfacing and after the procedure to help heal the skin and maintain positive results. This regimen provides you with a more even healing and less chance of hyperpigmentation.
In many cases, patients who opt for the full face to be treated experience the best results. Erbium (YAG) Laser resurfacing has produced less bleeding, bruising, or post-procedure discomfort than other resurfacing methods.
