What to Expect on the Day of Male Breast Reduction

Dr. Heidari performs male breast reduction surgery on an outpatient basis using general anesthesia. A small incision is made at the bottom of the areola (the brown area encircling the nipple). Dr. Heidari then removes any excessive glandular tissue and skin. He often compliments the procedure with liposuction for optimal contouring of the chest.

Surgery Time: The surgery generally takes about two hours.

After your surgery, you will be able to return home, but you should line up a friend or family member to take you home. Your chest will likely be wrapped to help reduce swelling. You can return to work within four to seven days. You will need to wear an elastic pressure garment for four to six weeks, and you should limit sports and strenuous activity for three to four weeks after the surgery. Patients should avoid direct sun exposure or salon tanning for six months.
