What to Expect on the Day of a Breast Lift

When the day arrives, you will have a clear path toward your goals and recovery from the Breast Lift procedure. Breast Lifts at Aesthetic Contours are often performed as outpatient procedures using general anesthetic. Based on the style of your breast and the goals of the procedure, there could be many variations in the technique Dr. Heidari will use. He will work with you to determine the best approach based on the physical features of your breasts.

Often Breast Lifts could involve three specific incisions—the first will circle the areola or the dark skin around the nipple. The second incision begins under the nipple and continues until the bottom of the breast. The final incision is along the breast crease, the base of the breast. These incisions define the areas where excess skin, left from aging or sagging of the breast, can be removed. Once the excess skin has been removed, the nipple and areola will be placed in a new position, and the breast will be reshaped about them, completing your new chest and look.

Following the surgery, we will place a gauze dressing on the breast, and you will be given a surgical bra to wear; this will help reduce the swelling that naturally occurs after a Breast Lift. Dr. Heidari will prescribe antibiotics to avoid infection in addition to certain pain medications. Your stitches will be removed in about four to seven days, and you will need to wear a support bra for four to five weeks.

Swelling, bruising, and numbness, particularly around the incision, are expected and generally subside in about six weeks. Most patients return to work in ten to fourteen days but must avoid heavy lifting and strenuous activities for four to six weeks.
